Have a friend who lives at Park Rowe in Perkins Rowe who signed in March 2021 for $1,650.00. That same unit is listed for $2,200.00 at the moment.
They put the actors/workers for Celtic movie studios in there. So I'm sure they could do a shorter term rental for a LOT more.

It's insane the amount of housing they are building along Burbank.
I keep waiting for it to turn into a total ghetto, but they seem to be filling those units.....for now.
LSU breaking the national trend of declining enrollment helps. They are pushing 37,000 students and may break 40k in a couple of years. Even with all those new dorms, they don't have a chance at housing a larger % of students on campus.

What’s a cheap apartment around LSU these days? When I left CC Brightside in 2017, it was $455. Even that place has to be higher now.

Adding that Rouses / Torchys / etc helped keep the area attractive.

When me and my friends were at Burbank Commons, once you crossed Lee heading east it was nothing but woods until you came to The Cottages off of Ben Hur.
And The Cottages aren't even that old. They were the first of the "trendy" complexes to open in that area.

See, when I was in school the per-person thing was actually a bad deal and I never did it. It was somewhere around $450-$600/person depending on the size you got. (Two bedroom was $600/person, while 4 bedroom was $450/person)
The 4-bedroom was somewhat affordable, but it was literally 4 small bedrooms that all connected directly to a very small living area/kitchenette. So you were paying $450 to live in a few hundred square feet with 4 other people.
Back then, that was expensive considering you could rent a 2BR house/duplex to share with a roommate with more room in the Garden District for $850. I did that and had a fenced in backyard, a huge back deck, etc. And was on the St. Pat's parade route.
I think where they got ya is a lot of out of towners didn't want their kids farther than a bus ride at most from campus. Being from the area and having a vehicle and a job way off campus anyway, my parents couldn't have cared less if I was in Garden District or down Perkins or whatever. As long as it was safe.

quote:Yeh it's not a great thing to do. Then most of these kids go home for summer so then they are running around trying to get someone to sublease it until the next fall semester. I see it all the time on the LSU parents rent/buy/sell facebook page.
