Didn't see this posted yet on TD. Huey's now closed.

Business Report

In a bit of comedy in the article, there's this discussion about what to do with the vacant space on 3rd St:

quote:

Brad Watts, who co-owns three establishments directly across Third Street from Delgado’s shuttered businesses, also hopes the properties will attract a tenant committed to a high-end, well executed concept. Personally, he would like to see an office supply store in one of the spaces or some sort of retailer.

"I see all these visitors from the new downtown hotels walking around on weekends and there is nothing for them to do,” he says. “We need more down here than just places to eat and drink

Yup, someone who owns 3 establishments on 3rd street thinks that people are pissed off that they are stuck in a downtown hotel all weekend and can't find a single office supply store within walking distance!

We should turn it into a small library or an activity center for the Council on Aging

The problem started and ended with Delgado. Apparently he did not even pay taxes on some of businesses for years. Happy's is awesome but no way 10+ legit bars/nightclubs were ever going to make it down there if they were not used as fronts.

Not like BRs downtown was vibrant or anything but damn there’s legit going to be 2 bars down there

Huey’s was fun as recent as like 1-2 years ago. It went to shite real quick

Did Delgado lose his young fiancee as well? She disappeared from his social media account a few months back.

Multiple high end hotels being built with all the bars closing around them

Dohn Jelgado and Grary should run for Governor/Lieutenant Governor together.
That way they could get paid to suck each other's dicks again.

Not surprised. Downtown is a disaster overall for going out drinking

Delgado running for mayor deffinitly quickened up this process. Made some enemies it seemed like. Them enforcing the open container right after election didn’t seem coincidental

I think SWB gets an assist on this one for open container enforcement, SP+ has a hand in the demise of downtown too (they started booting vehicles in their lots, for the longest time it was essentially "free parking" downtown on nights/weekends - it's hard to fault land owners, but there is nothing down there worth $10 for 3 hours).

My parents flew in from Atlanta last week and were pissed when they couldn't find anywhere downtown to buy a 3 hole punch. They vowed to never return to this shithole

I’m sure Delgado was dipping his hand in company ink many times over, not just with that blond

I like JD more than most people seem to, and I honestly don't begrudge a guy for upgrading his woman, but he was kind of over the top in flaunting it. You need to be really humble and low key when you do that shite - especially when you have a young kid.
