That whole day is fun. I also very much enjoy Iris and Tucks the day before. Spending the entire weekend uptown with good weather is the best.

Is this where those who hate Mardi Gras and think it’s the trashiest holiday on the calendar come to bitch and complain about how trashy it is to like parades and get off on Mardi Gras? I mean, I’m one of those people but I won’t ruin this thread by doing it. Just curious.

I thought Iris sucked this year. Thought Cleo was the best women’s parade this year.

I’ve lived in south Louisiana my entire life and was meh about Mardi Gras. I lived uptown for about five years and it completely changed my perspective. I’d encourage everyone to spend a weekend uptown and enjoy the parades at least once.

I do enjoy the night parades but this is the best Nola experience to me.

Friday night (d'Etat), Saturday morning (Iris), and Sunday morning (Thoth) are my favorites.

I think many people would love to however these folks are making that increasingly difficult by putting the contents of their house on the parade route. The days of showing up with an ice chest, Popeyes & some chairs are dwindling.

Thoth has the longest route in Mardi Gras

Bacchus is probably the best with the best floats but Endymion is right there.

Thoth Sunday is Mardi Gras for me. Monkey Hill is on magazine st & a great spot to camp out. Thoth has fought to keep this route to pass Children’s Hospital & the assisted living homes on Henry Clay.
The weather was ok & the crowds were great. I drove the route early, 7:30. If you showed up with a ladder at that time you were late. The first opening on St Charles was almost Martin Luther King Blvd. Smokers, grilles & boilers were smoking & very little coffee being consumed

Yeah that Sunday is the best day. Luckily I have a relative on the route so I just show up. The crowd this year, although big, wasn't as big as years past prob due to threat of rain and Superbowl. Very enjoyable.
