I run a small fleet of diesel Peterbilt trucks that use DEF. We were using def from the pump but the concentration was too high and it was cloging something causing tons of problems. We switched to the two and a half gallon jugs and it has eliminated our problems.

There are no emissions inspections on diesels in LA. Delete that crap.

There is no concentration differences. There is only ag grade and commercial grade. All DEF must meet the same urea concentration level of 30 something percent if I remember correctly.
As far as answering the ops question just look at the nozzle of the pump before filling and if the nozzle is caked with dirt or contaminates either wipe it off or first or don't use it. The def system is very fragile to contaminates and any minor dirt can foul the system.

frick DEF. Straight pipe with DEF, EGR, & DPF delete with a tune FTW! My truck has never ran better.
