What is the meteorological term for that 'swirl' just south of Oberlin?

Rear Inflow Jet. It is what led to the Rear Inflow Notch earlier. Any meso/vortex that forms there would be a Bookend Vortex.

ETA: Ville Platte and areas near it will be in the path of that particular feature of the storm.

Look at all of these areas of possible rotation near and offshore of Cameron Parish. #LAwx

Definitely watch any of those pop-up cells out in front of this line. You all will eventually have to deal with the line, but there is plenty enough support for those cells to cause problems.

Doesn't seem like the main line will get to us until 7 PM or so - the bands at the front of the line will start hitting a few hours before that.

We could see 50+ MPH winds easy - gonna be a lot of branches and some small limbs that go down most likely.

It appears the tornado was traveling almost due east, parallel to Ham Reid. Major damage to homes in multiple neighborhoods just south of Ham Reid Road.

Are we really expecting it to be severe and tornadic here in the BR area or are we thinking it’s going to be further north around the state line as usual?

Also, with the shear profile, any severe warning of a cell in front of the line should just be treated as a tornado warning.

They are going to be very liable to put down a tornado.
