Outlander,
Assuming you asked and did homework on all options which would you have picked out of Exxon complex and BRPO and why?

BRPO,smaller plant with more of a family oriented feel. The safety record of the plant surpasses the rest. Also it's a four year progression in pay unlike the four year apprenticeship with the complex. The apprenticeship limits you.

For a company earning Billions of dollars per quarter, that’s really, really cheap of Shell.
Assuming a baw is making $100k per year, which is of course easily doable- the 300% payout would be $300k... Under the XOM pension, making the same $100k, you’d get $50k a year for life; if you live another 30 yrs after retiring at 60 (again, very realistic in this day and age) you’d eventually get $1.5 million.. even if Shell contributes more to the 401k, you probably still wouldnt approach that amount... Then again, having several generations of my own family who’ve worked for Shell, they do so much shady shite and poison their workers in various ways, so i guess the life expectancy after retirement isn’t real good, and they know that.

Their 401k plan is pretty top notch; after 10 years, 10% with no required employee contribution. The pension should be looked at as a nice extra benefit & not a retirement backstop.

Geaux1, that response was for Leon Spinks. I responded to your question further down. The complex has already made offers so our best bet is BRPO now.

Geaux1, Ive been told that BRPO doesn't make OT until after 40 hours a week or 12 hours a shift and that the rest of BR exxon makes OT after 8 on each shift. I believe exxon is paid less than shell but getting OT after 8 hours every shift it evens out to the same pay as shell. Shell only makes overtime after 12 in a shift or 40 in a week, same as BRPO.
