Lafayette has a problem with thinking the only "culture" that exists is Cajun. If you don't specialize in fried seafood then you have a hard time with long term success in Lafayette.
They have some great restaurants just like everywhere else. To even remotely compare them to New Orleans or even Baton Rouge's wealth of food options is ridiculous.

You absolutely should. I’ve only been there once. Was in Kaplan for work and a colleague recommended it. And boy were they right. Had back of the stove chicken and brown gravy. Was AMAZING. Rice was perfect.
