Also, Italian at Nuvolari’s or Sal and Judy’s in LaCombe. You really don’t know what you are talking about.

It’s not a hot take
If Lafayette’s food was that great then it would be a food tourist destination, too.
But it has like maybe 10 good places.
10 good places that have been open for more than a year

Now that’s a horrible take there. Either that or a good troll

Now that’s a horrible take there.
I have had mostly ok meals in Lafayette- I’ve had better stuff at gas stations and grocery stores than restaurants. The restaurants I have liked in Lafayette are now closed.
None of the food I’ve had is food tourist worthy. Lafayette does not have the best food in the state. And it gets worse going west.

Lafayette has more than 10 places that’s are good. They easily have better food than New Orleans. New Orleans is creole, nothing Cajun about it. Y’all can keep yalls tomato’s in yalls gumbo.

the best food is found in the kitchens of Cajun homes, restaurants have never been big in Lafayette, some of the best places are holes in the walls places that you just have to know about

You can argue Laffy has better Cajun food than New Orleans, but New Orleans wins the overall restaurant battle if they go head-to-head.

quote:that is very subjective - plenty of good food found in kitchens of NOLA, too. my Cajun great grandma that lived in NOLA most her life cooked really well. My Irish grandma cooked some of the best creole food you’d ever eat.

restaurants have never been big in Lafayette

I love all of it, I didn’t pay attention as to how this argument got started but Nawlins does Nawlins well and Acadiana does Acadiana well, just my opinion but nothing in Nola is quite as good to me post Katrina

To each their own but I don’t see New Orleans winning head to head. If you take a poll I think Lafayette wins if you take the whole Acadiana area for food options.

quote:No fricking shite, dumb arse - you said best food in the state, you didn’t say specifically Cajun
New Orleans is creole

Y’all can keep yalls tomato’s in yalls gumbo.
You can keep eating your burnt flour in your etouffee and red beans

If you believe Lafayette and the surrounding area is better than New Orleans for food, start naming some places - not to debate it with you, just I want to know what I or others here might be missing out on.

Because some couyon said Southwest Louisiana has the best food in the state

I love all of it,

I mean, Rachels’s is pretty good. What else ya got?
What are these stellar restaurants?
I’m there weekly for work & always looking for new places. And I’m all good on T-coons.

Now that’s a take.
I mean it’s 100% true. Yes, New Orleans has the best fine dining in the state, but for authentic Louisiana food, the 190 corridor between Kinder and Krotz Springs is unmatched. And I’m not biased because I’m not from there.

It’s really aggravating when people say they come to New Orleans for the food. If people only knew to go 150 miles west and the food between Lafayette and Lake Charles would blow New Orleans out the water.
I’ve lived in Lafayette for 12 years and I will take New Orleans cuisine. I do love them plate lunches though! Dwight’s bbq plate lunch, chefs kiss!
