Dealership powertain/drivetrain for life warranties

Wife wanted a smaller car and saw a used Nissan Sentra at a dealership and liked it, so i read a few reviews, good solid car nothing outstanding but also not a lot of issues so i found a dealer with the best internet price. We drive to the dealer around 100 miles away and start the paperwork and then he tells us about the warranty pretty much any part that falls under the powertain or drivetrain, transmission is covered for life with a $100 deductible no matter how long or how many miles on a $14000 car. Seems more dealerships are turning to this, OT baws where’s the catch, what am i missing?

it transferable?
No im assuming thats how they hope not to get beaten up too badly that most people arent like me when i have it towed back at 300,000 miles wanting a new motor. Still im skeptical

Anyone remember the “lifetime” transmission fluid for BMW’s? What a crock of BS. There needs to be a formal definition of life or lifetime or whatever term they are using or it’s just subjective.

Don’t miss scheduled maintenance. Oil changes, tire rotation, filters, and other services depending on brand and model. You miss one thing, just one, they will void that bitch in a heartbeat on you. Not sure about Nissan and your prospective Dealer, but just about all of Toyotas is with Fidelity.

Likely have to use their maintenance also

Extended warranties are a scam IMO.

This is how it works at the dealership I bought from.

Thats my take, but was told all i had to do was scheduled maintenance at a authorized outlet ( even jiffy lubes) anyway going to keep every receipt, great deal if its on the up and up, didn’t pay anything and have 2 yrs on the 3yr/36000 left.

Why the hell would you buy a used one when you can get a brand new one for the same price? Cars.com have it shipped 13500 all day

If it has the cvt transmission, make sure you have the maintenance on time and documented.

Cheapest one i found in the trim we got was close to 16 without shipping on that site... i paid 14200 which was rated as a great deal on car gurus, maybe there was a better deal but i couldnt find it, the car had 10000 miles on it and is a 18

They’re counting on some other problem on that pos to put it out of commission, and they got an extra Hundo out of you for it

The catch is that they expect you to do all your maintenance with them. What's easier: going to them for your maintenance and letting them keep records or you going to multiple places and keeping the records yourself.

Yes it does

powertain/drivetrain for life
The catch is that when the powertrain craps out the car is dead, so it's no longer covered.

You have to come in for mandatory maintenance every so many miles

I have the Dodge lifetime powertain warranty they were running in the mid-2000s. Non-transferable and I have to bring it in every five years for a free warranty inspection to keep it active.
