Well continued rain, melt and runoff would be a problem if they continue to have to use that spillway as it may produce continued head cutting into the dam foundation. If this does come to pass, at some point they will most likely close the spillway and let the overbank structure / Weir relieve the pressure on the dam when the lake gets to that elevation.
