Take his arse out back and drown him in a fricking bucket of water.

It is literally the same thing as watching TV, reading fiction, watching movies, watching sports, etc. It is a distraction. Sure some people go overboard with it, but I know many, many people who have wayyyy to much of their personal identity wrapped up in sports too. How is that different when they know what kid is a sophomore in high school and verbally committed to LSU in 2 years vs having a lot of hours put into a video game?
99% of what’t on TV is straight garbage, but you can learn watching TV if you want to. Most of the other stuff you listed is a total waste of time. Everyone seems to wants to do the bare minimum and be distracted the rest of the time. It’s a sad state.
I took the TVs out of the house 6 years ago. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I try to use what little spare time I have to help people.

Seeing a video game console in a grown man's house that has no kids is the ultimate "I'm a man child" statement.
Imagine someone looking over your shoulder and reading your post as you were typing it. What do you think that person would think about you?
You're using your free time to read about and reply to the subject of people playing video games. That's your life. Think about it.

I'm sure he's heartbroken.

And you're replying to me. So you're even lamer?

I'm not the one who was criticizing video game fans and pretending I'm above them.

How is it any different than playing Golf, Hunting, Fishing, Restoring an old car, watching sports on TV or live, watching anything on TV for that matter, reading a book, surfing the web, going to the movies? Name anything you want that a man does for leisure.
Restoring a car- that's no comparison. I restored an old car once. At the beginning I had something in my yard that attracted possums and pissed off my neighbors. At the end, I had a car I could drive places. It actually ended up being my daily driver for a while, which saved me from having to buy a new car. I could have put that time and money into video games.
Golf - I guess you move around some.
Hunting - Something you can eat.
Watching sports on TV - I almost never do this without doing something else productive at the same time, unless it's a game I really, really care about.
Maybe that's something to think about: people invest a lot of time, energy, focus, and emotion into video games. You can't play video games in the background while you're doing your taxes / homework / writing a computer program / whatever.
Just not worth it, to me.

Have the BLM protests started yet?

I was, but you're right, most of my friends at the time online were from Japan. Was a hard time in life for me during those years, going through deaths of close family members I just became a hermit and sunk all my time into SSF4. I'm talking 12+ hour days accompanied with xanax and good cannabis. Locked myself away and just "escaped" with that game. Didnt have to work, but neglected my music and myself.
I haven't played in over a year now, and played competition level in years because it was a strange addiction I needed to get away from. But I'm confident I could still smoke people.

There was one motherfricker from Baton Rouge who was great. I think He had "Beast" in his gamertag, whoever he was..was also outstanding. Never knew who it was but he mained Ryu or balrog, if memory serves me correct.

If the child's mother had only given him permission to do it a month or so earlier he'd be considered a true feminist and champion of women.

You could've just typed this and saved yourself a lot of time.
It's not a hobby you enjoy and that's fine.

Considering all the time invested and money to buy parts, it would probably have been cheaper just to buy a car. Sounds like you wasted a lot of your time that could have been spent doing something better.

What if someone has a physical job and needs to rest on his time off?

Hunting - Something you can eat.
After you factor in the cost of licenses, guns, ammo, land leases, pirogues, decoys, and your time, it would be cheaper to buy the meat. Hunting = waste of time.

Why would you really care about a sports game? Sounds like another waste of your time.

Enjoying a sunset? Not worth it.
Playing the piano? Not worth it.
Reading fiction? Not worth it.
Watching a movie? Not worth it.

When you do something like restore a car or kill a deer, you can't really quantify whether it was worth it, but I don't mind investing my time and money into worthwhile things.
The car I fixed up (won't say "restored"- I did nothing to the body) was exactly how I wanted it after I was done. You could not have bought anything just like it.
I do get that it can be good to immerse yourself in some other world, though, like a work of fiction or a computer game. Just think there are some grown people who ought to know better taking it way too far.
And I struggle making it through movies, but I do play the piano (badly) and read fiction. :)
