This strategy legitimately carried me through miles 6-11 of my first half marathon.

There's always a fat Red Sox fan beating on a drum on City Park Ave. I always want to accidentally run over him.

waving or something like that makes it easier to see yourself in the crowd pics.

My '07 poster. I couldn't tell who I was. Notice the old lady hanging with me. I cropped her out to make me look a little faster.

I ran a 54 that year.

It was sarcasm. I always laugh about having to crop the old lady out.

There really are so many cool people and stories associated with this race. This will be my first time in 15 years not doing it. First year I did it, two guys dressed as batman and robin passed me around the 4 mile mark. Each with beers in their hand.
Last year I really wasn’t in great shape so I walk/ran with some guys and we were making it into kind of a half assed pub crawl. Near the Claiborne overpass, is always the guys playing music. I think most of them used to be part of or maybe still part of the bucktown all stars. They are always given out shots and drinks there. Two years ago Dragos showed up with his fire truck and they had a few cases of Jager to give out as shots. That got ugly.
We followed some chicks pulling a wagon that year and decided to buy doughnuts to trade them for jello-shots.
The guy who started the hot dog thing cracks me up. He eventually started dressing as a devil and putting signs up to mess with the Kenyan because they ignored him as they ran by.

Have fun Saturday folks. The weather will be great and the hot arse will be out in force.

Last year I ran an 8min mile. At mile 3 a guy came past me in full fatigues like I was stopped.

I'll be there with the hope that the Boston Marathon will draw away enough fast runners to get me a poster.

The temperature projections that were in the low 80's early in the week have now fallen to the mid 70's. Throw in some low humidity and light wind and it doesn't get much better than that!!!

I wonder how many people would have to go the Boston Marathon for my 52 minutes to get me into the top 500??
