I was shopping with a retailer (that I won’t name)...
Anyway a woman got really upset because the manager at the
store would not give her her husband’s credit card number.

From what I was able to gather by shamelessly eavesdropping, the woman was not an authorized user for the card. The manager tried to explain but the woman was infuriated.

Would this piss you off?

Seemed like a smart move by the manager to me.

To a sane person, this would be known rules. Privacy is more important than her feelings.

There is a reason that there is a name on the card. To hell with her.

Self-Entitled. You should have slapped her and run, then come back in an hour and got your 20% discount.

That’s what I was thinking. Hell, those people don’t know what hell
is going on. Woman could be on the warpath.

Friend of mine paid 150k for his ex wife’s credit card charges on his cards after they were divorced.

Yeah, he wasn’t happy.

Divorce courts are pretty bad in this area. You can get them to basically tell the other party, "oooh, you'd better pay that bill you incurred, darn it!" but if that person doesn't listen your options are pretty limited.

The court can throw your ex in jail, in theory, but that doesn't help the bill get paid. They also won't do it if that person has custody (muh best interest of the child).

What they could do, in some states at least, but probably never will, is offset the monthly payment against child support. Again, "muh best interest."

It's amazing how lazy and impotent these people are against anyone other than a black teenager who dropped a roach in his car (in which case you see the wrath of Matlock, Dirty Harry, and Harry Lee rolled-into-one unleashed).
