Early season doesn’t count.
Not what I’m referring to.

We all agree current availability and size and its not a buyers market.

Nope, no reason to.

You really think the crawfish just look at the calendar and say hey it Jan, time for some of us to go in the trap

the fall and winter weather doesn't affect the catch at all?

You clearly misunderstand

The fall and winters don’t fluctuate that much in La.

Lenten prices are usually within $.25 of each other year after year and the price will go up for big weekends like Mardi Gras and Holy Week

After lent the price will drop to around $1.25# pretty much every year

Oh really

2018 - record rainfall in Sept/Oct - then dryer than normal winter

2019 - bone dry in Sept/ first of Oct - then wet late Oct - then record low temps in Nov- then mild wet winter

2020 - 2 hurricanes that dropped over 6 in of rain each time but really dry in between
One of the dryest Nov ever
Dec - below avg rainfall and temps

A place here in Gonzales had boiled crawfish at $7.79 per pound last week. I decided to purchase 2 pounds of boiled shrimp instead.

The 14 day outlook for temperatures in Louisiana look to be 5-7 F above normal.

Once the water comes up and they start catching in the spillway the prices will fall...give it about 2 more months...until then enjoy your over priced pond crawfish

You are right. I've been to two boils so far where one sack was boiled at each. $200 a sack is crazy, but everyone wanted them bad so we all chipped in each time.
Surprisingly they have been decent size. I'm ready for march and april prices.
