My oldest sister went on a Geology Course outing from, back then Memphis State University, now University of Memphis. My Mom wears a roughly 1ct. pendant from there as a result.

A co-worker from Shreveport used to go every once in a while, never found a thing.

ETA: Sis was only one from her class to find a diamond. Some found other stuff like quartz, that while pretty, was worthless.

When I got there the first thing I noticed was that they had this crater.

Then, I walked over to take a closer look at the crater and it looked like it had some shiny particles in there that I thought looked like glass, but I'm not sure what it was.

Hot, miserable, and a waste of time.

Fly fishing the Little Missouri River just a couple of miles away, made it seem like I could bring the family to this park and there'd be something for everyone. Wrong. Hot, dry miserable. They did add a small water park up front that saved the trip. It wasn't much, but it kept everyone from killing me.
The biggest disappointment in the big flat plowed up field they call crater of diamonds is that there are no other interesting minerals in the hard clay. No quartz crystals, geodes, or agates. It's a diamond or nothing.
Best food in town is across the road from the Queen of Diamonds Hotel. It's a pig joint called Buddy's. I call it a pig joint, not because of the barbecue, but because of all the Razorback pennants and other assorted paraphernalia that is the decor. More pigs in one spot than I've ever seen anywhere outside of an Arkansas football game. Bring a fly swatter too, if you go.

That dinky little pool has a max depth of 4 feet. Everyone in our party over 10 was still miserable.

Once as a kid, after fifteen minutes I was ready to go. Now there is a splash zone for kids that are bored.
