The cutting of the brake lines explains why she couldn't stop, but it does not explain why her car suddenly accelerated through an intersection.
i think by this point in time we all know the media likes to spice up the story with 0 facts to back it up or that unnamed source

Can't really feel bad for her.

Does not compute. If she's dead how do they know it accelerated? How does a car accelerate because of a brake line?
Many modern vehicles have a “black box” (it’s actually an airbag control module but anyway) similar to an airplane and the police/investigators can download the information from the box.

How did she not know she had no brakes? The crash was 2 miles from her house. She would not have had brakes when leaving home. She went 2 miles with no brakes?
Probably took a stop or two to fully bleed the lines. They were probably sponges but wasn’t too much of a factor until she went downhill or the lines were fully bled.

Close. Most modern vehicles (within the last 5 or so years) utilize a CAN BUS system, in which multiple ecu’s (electronic control unit) control everything from engine management, transmission operation, ABS (anti lock brake system), power windows, HVAC, SRS (supplemental restraint system - airbags), traction control, variable assist power steering etc. The most recent GM truck has as many as 15 separate modules in its onboard network. The SRS module would have told them nothing except which airbags deployed. The engine ecu could be scanned for vehicle ground speed, throttle input percentage, engine rpm etc. Im aware this poor girl died, but many people claim their vehicle “sped up” when their brakes fail. It may feel like it, but it rarely happens.

I know there has to be some truth to this, as the source is a dependable one...but this sounds fishy as hell to me.
if a brakeline is cut, the pedal should have gone completely to the floor when she stepped on the brake to put that car in gear. I suppose she may not have understood what that meant, but still pretty suspicious to me.

Mother of five dating a crackhead is equally low life. Any woman with a child dating a crackhead is scum.

Not sure if the crackhead is the lowlife, or if it’s the woman with 5 kids who would date a crackhead.

Heard there may be more to this story on a radio show this morning. The wife was supposed to testify in court and she may have been taken out.

Yeah this story seems too shallow. There's got to be more to it

So why is that story in the NOLA paper?

Hmmm ... maybe he will be gone for a while.
possession of an illegal substance
using an illegal substance
possibly vandalism depending on who the auto belongs to
manslaughter
On top of that maybe a civil lawsuit from the woman's parents.
Obviously he's the one that should've died.
If we're lucky he'll die in prison from a ripped out colon.
And those poor children....
