Recently had Cox 200 mbps package installed. Tonight my internet dropped down to around 5 mbps...
Anyone have any experience with this happening? Is this a frequent thing with Cox?

We need a lot more details about your setup.
This is a Tech Board question for sure.

My cox internet always exceeds what I pay for so I'm fine with it.
Definitely need to know all about your setup.
Does the op have a router? Could it be wifi related? Does he get this speed hooked up directly to the modem? Could need just a simple refresh from their end. Could need to schedule a tech visit if it's on their end.
Call cox and get the Internet tech support to help.
Good luck

One more thing
If it is on their end and they eventually come out and fix it.. They will credit you back for the down time you were having internet options.. So call them again after they fix it and ask about a credit back for however long this has been going on until they fixed it.
People hate on Cox, but I have been treated great by them. Far better service than Comcast. It's not the best, but it isn't the worst.

Yes, I have the same problem...from roughly 8 till 11 every night the internet bogs down to a crawl. I called them out, had a couple of guys look at it on the same day and they determined my area had an over saturated node and that there was already a work order to fix it.

All of the guys in the bucket trucks are also really knowledgeable. One guy that was problem solving my hood was an EE. Spent like 45 minutes learning me on stuff.
He told me that leaks from the cable lines sometimes frick with cellphone towers. Pretty crazy
