No one tries to discredit that he was a hero. What's fascinating is the people who say it "makes them smile" that this was thrown out. Or praise everything about him. When they know he lied about a lot of it. It's very likely that he is lying about Ventura. Yet people want their real life Superman to be real, so they stick their fingers in their ears and scream 'Merica.

It makes me smile not because of Chris Kyle. It makes me smile because Jesse Ventura is an absolute douchebag.
And the other poster-he wasn't implying the looters were on the roof of the Superdome. He implied he was on the roof shooting down.
He was a good sniper. Just not as good as he said.

There was nothing in his book about the Superdome incident so I imagine you didn't read it and put it down at that point.
FWIW, I think the guy was a Great War hero. With that said, he was prob a little off too. I'm not sure what context the Superdome stuff was said but I'm sure whatever he saw pissed him off and he went on a make believe rant. Not saying anyone got picked off, but I'd imagine with the National Guard called in and the chaotic environment, I'd imagine the military did strategically have snipers deployed in case shite hit the fan.

Somebody shot at least 1 bad guy. You want me to give you a day? It wasn't Monday, August 29th and it wasn't Friday September 2nd. My best guess is Wednesday, August 31st, but I could be off 1 day or the other.
Some yahoo shot at us and someone from the Superdome property shot him. That's all I can tell you about anything like this incident. I was outside when the crowd got frisky with a guardsman and the weapon went off and the dude jumped/fell/was pushed before I got there, IIRC, during daylight hours on Monday, August 29th.
