Alright peeps...Wifey's 40th in July.....trying to plans a surprise vacay. Only us 2, so no kids!!! 2 places she always wanted to go is Costa Rica and Napa. We have been to Cozumel so I know about that. I just have that as a backup plan at maybe an all-inclusive. I'm looking at around a $5K budget...any suggestions and why? Go.....

Did Belize for 7 days at an optional all inclusive for less than 5k
Can choose to have all your meals onsite or take the short ride into the town. We did a mix depending on what we did that day.

I always wanted to go to Napa valley. My ex father in law visits Costa Rica every year. He loves it. The beaches and people are really great. My vote Costa Rica.

Please don't go to Costa Rica.
I don't want to share the place with gringos that use the term "vacay."
Thanks.

Yeah, don't want to knowingly send a fat chick to a beach.

It's the rainy season in July in Costa Rica, so you might not want to go then.

I mean if you hadn't been cancun is nice but extremely touristy. Everywhere else is really poor.

I'm going to Caneel Bay in March. USVI. I've never been but my girlfriend says it's awesome. 5 days, 4 nights fits in your budget. My budget was around 4k and I went over it a couple hundred. She got this for Christmas. I told her about it early and then she rented out a boat to do some island hopping one of the days as part of my Christmas. Looking forward to it.

Costa Rica's rainy season is something like May-Novenber LINK
Best beaches on the Pacific side. Not to mention jungle expeditions and fishing.
