I hear ya, I just can’t stand wearing those plastic ones y’all just give out for 12+ hours per day. I may just get some new lenses instead of buying a whole new pair.

It also blows my mind that those little cheap pairs y’all give away are ANSI certified but something like Costa isn’t.

Blows my mind Costa wouldn't pay the little bit of money to get theirs certified.

Then I realized Costa glasses are pretty shite and just dupe people with a high price.

I’ve never heard someone say Costa are shite. What kind of glasses would you put in the top tier?

And most lifestyle brands dupe people with high prices for products that could be made for much cheaper. Yeti is the number one offender.

Guess construction eyewear never fit in their business plan.

Coasta are good quality. Just not worth the ridiculous price increase.

Go to a flea market and for 97% savings you can get the same glasses.

I spend money on stupid shite all the time, so to each their own.

Costa makes certified glasses and everyone is wearing them. They aren't a big deal then. Their market shares disappear.

I’m aware they’ll get you for it, but my whole point in this thread is that the lenses are Z87 approved.

I’ve never bought a cheap pair of glasses that has anywhere near the quality of Costa 580G lenses.

Someone mentioned their warranty is out the warranty...far as I can tell the warranty is the same and the only thing that has changed is that they don’t charge 12 bucks just to look at them anymore.

Part of Z87 approval is easy to read notation that they are approved.

So no, they aren't approved.

I said the LENSES are approved, I said nothing about the frames.

They are the same material yes, but they still would have to be tested.

Think eating sushi at a gas station or at a high end restaurant...same product they just want to sample to be sure its safe.

Also Costa does some different proprietary processes to the polycarbonate for polarization etc, that may alter the impact resistance.

Costa wont go for it, so there ya go.

According to Costa’s literature, they do test. Which brings me back to my main point of this thread... if they are testing to and meeting ANSI Z87 guidelines, why the hell are they screwing themselves out of an entire market by not just engraving a few little letters on the lenses?

WHAT standard Are they testing to????

edit: The literature is marketing, meeting the full American National Standards Institute requirements is a whole other story.

Startched cotton is just as fire retardant as FRCs.

Why do you think Calvin Klein isn't trying to get their cotton shirts FRC qualified?
