was just quoted $4100 to replace my home's ac unit. Rep said $3500 was parts and $600 was labor. This seems high to me. what says the baws of the ot?

quote:

Rep said $3500

I was going to say the same thing.

Out of curiosity, was the Rep a giant crustacean from the Paleolithic Era?

My math says 3500+600 = 4100

The whole unit? That's nothing.

Size? Brand? Company doing work? Warranty? How old is unit you’re replacing?

So many variables

$4100 to replace an AC unit is not high.

I mean, if in a closet, when they remove the inside unit have them replace the plywood maybe. Replace the old return grill with a filter grill for convenience. Normal ultra cheap add ons.

There is not a lot of difference between the top end units and low end. AC guy told me to stay low end simply because you are only paying for additional electronics that will fail and come with hefty price tag to replace. I spent 3800 and save about 75 a month on utilities plus your local power provider will likely give you a rebate for the replacement. I got a 300 dollar credit here in Alabama.

Window unit, just as good. Whole house under $1000.

Screw these rich snobs around here. Don't let them bully you into replacing that stuff.
