He had killed a girl years ago in a hit and run. Ironically killed by a drunk driver who ran him over on a baseball field.

news link

quote:

Police in Sanford, Maine, say a driver is facing manslaughter charges after she struck and killed an old man in a tragic incident. Carol Sharrow, 51, allegedly plowed through a gate and drove across a little league baseball field Friday night.

quote:

Authorities identified the victim as Douglas Parkhurst, 68, from West Newfield, CBS affiliate WGME-TV reports. He died on the way to the hospital. No one else was injured in the incident.

But....

hero who died saving kids had dark past

quote:

However, what was viewed as a hero’s death became complicated when the news landed 400 miles to the west in Fulton, N.Y. There, five years ago, Parkhurst walked into a local police station to confess to the 1968 hit-and-run death of Carolee Ashby. The 4-year-old, cut down crossing a street on Halloween, haunted the close-knit Oswego County region for decades, prompting cold-case investigators to repeatedly try to identify the driver responsible.

But Parkhurst, who admitted in 2013 that he was behind the wheel of his 1962 Buick Special with his brother Lenny after a night of drinking, came forward only after the statute of limitations had expired

I present that, the woman drove on the field as cosmic karma or the Lord's hand guided her to enact justice.

Scruffy was going to say that maybe he changed as a person, but...

What a piece of slime to let statute of limitations expire before coming forward. I feel no pity for this guy. Cant imagine the pain this guy caused the kids family he ran over. I can understand them having a little joy in this happening to him.

Exactly. He did a good thing clearing the field, but he deserved his fate.

Karma isn't always quick.
He got ran over by a drunk and killed in much the same way as the girl he killed.

(in Hinduism and Buddhism) the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences.

...you're a karma

I didn't need to, the first part sums up what you said and I was admitting defeat, then, now with your snarky reply I'm back in this war full bore.

Not gonna lie, i would wait till statue of limitations is up also.

I know that’s messed up but I’m not intentionally sending myself to prison if I’m not getting caught.

Same. Though I also said if I kill a kid by my negligence I couldn't live with the guilt.

Anyone else notice the eerie similarity between the first names of the victim from 1968 and the driver who killed the guy?
