What I’ve see at the hospitals the past 7 days don’t have me very optimistic though.

I'm a healthcare professional and work in a major greater new orleans hospital. The census is lower than I've seen it in months.

I work in Chicago at a hospital and we have multiple ICU rooms open and shifts @emergency have been Increased, I’m curious? I also regularly visit Northwestern Memorial Downtown, an absolute ghost town, they converted a tower into their “corona” headquarters and have it fully under control. PLEASE tell us what you’re seeing so diffeeent.

I'd be interested too. I've seen all the hysterical stories about what might happen. Haven't seen too much on current conditions.

I am pretty sure no one here is occupying space in a hospital if they test positive but have no symptoms.

Well I can't speak for every hospital so I should say that if some hospitals are doing it, it definitely isn't all of them.

Thanks for your insight and hardlegging, Chris.

I posted this yest....
it’s worth repeating.

Little piece of info I was told yest by a friend of mine who works for a dr.

She said they’ve had patients since this fall come in to see them with these symptoms.
Many tested negative for flu, strep and or pneumonia.

It’s been around for a while was their point, at that time they just didn’t know the diagnosis.
She also said their workload or patient influx hasn’t really increased last week or so. She also said to their knowledge, no one they treated for these symptoms past few months has died from it.

Also Nov 14th west Monroe high school
Shuts down bc so many student sick.
My sister works for a dr as well... sue said they had twice as many people come by then as they do now for these symptoms.

It’s been around people.
Just bc news media decided to turn this into a circus doesn’t mean it wasn’t already in our country.
Countless People have had it and gotten over it already.

Ashy Larry first question is do you identify as a Male or Female? Second Covid-19 has a less than 1% worldwide fatality rate so did H1N1. Keep inciting panic over a virus that sean Payton got over with zero symptoms.

Where do you want to start? Garbage in, garbage out.

Let's just start with your asinine 40% figure.

Most of you just don’t get it do you?! If we don’t do anything and let’s just say half the population gets it that’s 180 million people. If the mortality is 1% that’s 1.8 million deaths in a very short period of time. And for those of you saying it’s less than 1% let’s just say it’s .5%. That’s still 900,000 deaths.
A lot of people will want to go to the ER or hospital as well because they’ll be sick enough to warrant being looked at by a doctor. Let’s just say that’s another 10% of people. That’s 18 million people trying to get into the hospital. The system does not allow for those types of numbers. I don’t understand why it’s so hard for you guys to realize this. The system will be completely overwhelmed there won’t be enough medicine to treat people and tens of thousands of people would die needlessly.

Italy is the worst hit country so far, and their infection rate is nowhere near this 50% figure. And you people wonder why people are talking about fear mongering.

Why did Trump start taking this seriously?

He didn't get brainwashed by CNN or MSNBC.

Trump was told about the report created by Imperial College London, that all of the other world leaders are taking seriously in regards to this crisis.

Per that report, done by the leading experts in the world, if we had done nothing, 4 million dead in the US. With a moderate response, 2 million dead in the US. With extreme measures (nation wide lock-down) tens of thousands dead in the US. We are somewhere between moderate and extreme.

Google this report and read it. Take it seriously. The hospitals will be completely overrun soon. There is nothing we can do to stop it now.

That’s because they have a shelter in place. People here are saying don’t do anything. If we just went about our day like normal then yes half the population would likely get it.

They didn't until the numbers became really bad, and yet the infection rate is still nowhere near your number.

For me, the real concern is the small percentage of those infected who will need ventilators but will not be able to get one due to scarcity. Trump (and other nations) failed miserably in seeing this and should have escalated masks and vents production back in January instead of saying that this is just going to magically go away. We could have had enough vents for the pending surge in demand instead of crossing fingers. If exponential graph continues, many people (most the preexisting known/unknown conditions) will die needlessly due to hubris.

Based on scientific data on infection rates. Actually 50% is pretty low. Go read any medical or scientific report. It’s not hard it’s just math. Go google the imperial College report
