I got tested and one of the questions they asked me was if I’d been to Nee Orleans in the last two weeks.

SO would anyone like to take a stab at when colleges will be open?
Assume that colleges won't return for in-person instruction until the fall.

Is the outbreak particularly bad down there at the moment?
Compared to pretty much every other southeastern city, absolutely.

BamaAtl but you think fall would be "reasonable"? She'll flip the f out if not. She's a fun loving but studious girl.

Here’s an informative link where someone in Singapore has used Elasticsearch/Kibana to visualize countrywide data. I would love to see this type of project launched here stateside (I’m sure much of the OSS community already is - pretty sure we are at Elastic as well).

She can still have fun. Fun isn't cancelled.
Continuing to be studious is also still very much attainable.

“Italy will rush 10,000 student doctors into service, scrapping their final exams, in an effort to help the struggling health service cope with the #coronavirus outbreak”
“University Minister Gaetano Manfredi said the government would let this year's crop of medicine graduates start work some eight or nine months ahead of schedule and waive the mandatory exams they normally sit before qualifying.“

Given the projected epidemic curve, summer looks to be the peak nationwide. There may be some late communications around it, and she may want to be prepared for it to get moved to online-only if there's a cluster that develops in her college's particular town, but they'll at least try to start back.
If not, that won't be top 10 on her list of concerns.

Not only would it be front page news but it would fly in the face of every bit of data collected in every single country thus far.

Hospitals typically don’t alert the media in the middle of their meltdowns in my experience

Good Christ. Nothing can possibly go wrong there.

Thanks for that link. It's fascinating to visualize how this virus truly does spread through mass gatherings.

Studious is attainable and she plans to do so but fun is pretty much cancelled -- movies, parties, that type stuff. She only wants to watch so much Netflix with mom and dad.
Bright spot is she can "go to class" in her pjs lol.

This may have already been posted and I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate but I just received a text that Touro ICU is intubating people in thier 30's. Stated that "entire ICU has become infected". I'm assuming Nurses, Docs, hospital staff on that floor as well.
Highly doubtful. I’ve talked to a few drs at Touro recently and they didn’t mention that. Maybe they intubated a single patient in their 30’s. The telephone game is real. You aren’t intubating tons of patients in their 30s without having hundred intubated in their 60s and 70s, and we would know about that. Just based on the demographics of the disease
