People SHOULD be able to afford leisure activities and a decent home too, this isn’t fricking North Korea
Are you under some impression that young people have never had to make sacrifices in order achieve the lifestyle they aspired to reach later on?
Just a new thing the boomers invented to screw over millennials in your mind, I suppose.

Dude, if your next door neighbors house isn’t completely hood and the closest trap house and dilapidated trailer is a mile away, it’s a decent neighborhood.
The dude with a bird in his house told me so

. I remember eating egg salad sandwiches and of course making my own coffee (there was no other way) to save up for a down payment on a house.

Nah, they actually did plenty of things to frick everything up that there’s no reason to use pretend ones

Do you want to just stick to Alexandria or would the surrounding metro work because there are houses, not in the ghetto, that meet your criteria
In short, your earlier premise is still wrong. A $225K starter house in a decent area, even in the Alexandria area, can be found, and not in the ghetto.

The problem is many of them think this should be their first home…
When really it needs to be more like this…
(This house is on Zillo for $136K)

That house in a safe area in just any Louisiana metro area will be 350k or so. It’s ok to say prices have gotten insane
It’s still fricking hilarious all you people do is bitch how this country has gone to hell and the economy is out of control and inflation yada yada, then completely contradict yourself because you are too prideful to say the youth today is more fricked than you were

they would need $50k for a down payment.
No. They need 5% (conventional) or $12,500 or 3% (FHA) or $7500.

The American dream, having to commute 45 minutes into Alexandria fricking Louisiana to afford a decent home.
At least you made clear you aren’t a liar, just a complete and total imbecile

They are completene embarrassment of human beings
There is no argument. Today is the worst time in American history for trying to build wealth and climb the ladder. Period. End of story. The facts overwhelmingly support this

I don’t know, Darth is so stupid, I think they’re better off. I’d rather live in an apartment in my mid 30s than be him tbh

Or how about this, inflation should be under control, tax code needs to be re-written, and if you work hard you should *gasp* be able to buy a coffee AND afford a home without paying 20% over asking because some corporate captured politicians don’t see a problem with private equity firms buying up everything in sight. It’s like you guys call yourself conservative but you love big government pulling your strings

Based on the stuff you post, I doubt you have much experience with real sacrifice. Good for you, I guess. But it's heavily skewed your perspective on what is normal.

People have lived in the burbs for years.
You just keep proving that you think no sacrifices have to be made as if boomers like the lady in the OP never made a sacrifice when starting out.
Posted on 10/28/25 at 3:23 pm to stout
Boomers as a whole had it far easier than youth of today as a whole in terms of starting out with home ownership and climbing the ladder
That isn’t an arguable statement. Sorry it makes you angry

Weird, it seems the worst of it was under Joe Biden.

It doesn't make me angry. I agree with you but I think it is greatly overstated how easy they had it. The late 70's to early 80's were pretty rough.
