The officer should have been more respectful to the perp. [ LEOs on TD, you see how asinine that sounds? Don't make it an excuse for fellow LEO when it's the other way around. This post was edited on 8/2 at 9:19 am
Yep.
Also maybe the cop moved suddenly and the traffic violator "feared for his life". Equally stupid sounding.

Wonder why they didn't specify the race of the perp? Oh yeah...it doesn't fall in line with their propaganda filled goal.
If it had been a black cop and a white perp, there'd be riots and hell to pay.
I'm sick of this shite...and the rest of the South in particular has just about had enough.

tweets from a reporter w/ the Memphis Fox station
ETA:
as an avid viewer of the show "The First 48" on A&E... he was (at that time) 1 of the homicide detectives they followed when they did Memphis... seemed like he was always on his stuff

A description of the suspect or suspects has not been released but they did search for a person or persons of interest at Cottonwood Apts.

We know that a citizen hopped on the police radio to let authorities know that there was an officer down.

Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong held a news conference where he told the media the officer’s family had not been identified. So FOX13 is withholding the officer’s name until the family has been notified.

Did his police chief call it a chicken crap stop like the one in Cincinnati did?
The odd thing is that he (the cop) evidently didn't call in that he was stopping anyone. The station is reporting that the first communication they received was from a civilian that used the cop's radio to call in that the cop had been shot.
I'm wondering if the perp didn't feign that he needed the cop's assistance, the cop didn't call it in but slowed or stopped to help, and the perp shot him.

Mayor A C Wharton was also at Saturday night’s news conference. He was asked about the number of guns on the streets of Memphis.
“We won’t make any political statements here. But once again, this is evidence that there are so many guns on the streets in the wrong hands.”
Mr. Mayor... it sounds like you're making a political statement quite quickly following the death of a police officer
also... the 3rd Memphis officer killed in the line of duty in 4 years? looks like Dir. Armstrong may need to change some tactics

I like how that article was splattered with links about police shootings. No agenda here.

With all the recent murders of drivers by LEO, I believe this driver felt threatened for his life simply bc he was pulled over.

Noticed that as well. Media can't help themselves.

And his police chief said "all lives matter" in a press conference about this case. Boom
quote:
"We say so often ... do black lives matter? And at the end of the day, we have to ask ourselves, do all lives matter -- regardless of race, creed, color, economic status, what profession that person holds? All lives matter," Armstrong said.

Don't worry. Mayor will chastise Chief and Chief will apologize to save his job.

From all indications, it was. I'm not sure if he was wearing a body camera, though. Hopefully so.

FOX13's Jerrita Patterson is on a scene with heavy police presence just three-miles from where Officer Bolton was shot and killed.
This is at the Hickory Pointe Apartments near Mt. Moriah Road and Hickory Hill Ext.
Investigators have not said why they are there or what is going on.

That's the exact opposite of what we're saying. Just an FYI.
