April is rough if you have allergies and thats when it really starts to warm up.

The one thing they have down there is a breeze. Kinda helps in contrast to the breathless swampass heat we get in the deep south.

The confederate air Force still keeps the planes in Harlingen? Maybe go see them. If they are still a thing. Bunch of WW2 planes.

If you are Catholic there is a Basilica in San Juan, Texas (10min drive). Its a pilgrimage destination referred to as the 'Pilgrimage to San Juan'. I'll admit I'm not catholic but I helped them redesign their 65 acre Basilica in the 2010's. It was a beautiful site and was a fun project. Regardless of your religion its a way to be immersed in the latin culture while you are down there. Worth checking out !!!

But to be honest there isn't much to do or see in the McAllen/San Juan area. Lots of good restaurants though!

i'm not catholic, but a christian and appreciator of catholic culture and architecture and i keep meaning to go see that. I'm just usually with people who wouldn't appreciate it or want the side trip when i'm the driver. i think i'm going down there solo in October and I'm going to try to make a point to do that.

So I stumbled into the Twin Peak last night for dinner

Had the boneless wings in Thai Chilli sauce and a couple NA beers. The talent was ‘ok’

I will say there was a bartender there that may have been the hottest female I’ve ever seen. She was absolutely gorgeous! If I were single, would’ve definitely tried to get the digits.

The best (albeit busiest) time to go to the shrine is during Lent. The stations of the cross are really well done.

It used to be Boys Town was the place to go for white wing dove and deer hunters.back in the day. Many who went there already had a doctor appt for STD shots when they returned home, pre HIV
