It's possible that Cane's could do that. A Zaxby's is opening in that same development (Arlington Marketplace). The Zaxby's will be on Lee, essentially across the street from the "proposed" Cane's (see image below).

The existing Cane's that's on Lee closer to Highland was just the second location of Cane's that was ever built anywhere (after the original location by the Chimes).

Back in the 90's, after the original location of Cane's was open and successful, a Bailey's Chicken Fingers opened on the corner of Lee and Highland. Cane's viewed Bailey's as a challenge to its turf, and in response Cane's opened it's second location right across the street from Bailey's on Lee. Cane's won that war, with Bailey's eventually going out of business.

Fast forward to today, and Cane's could consider Zaxby's opening just a 100 yards or so down the street on Lee as a challenge to its original home turf. In response, Cane's may be willing to open a second Cane's location within shouting distance of its existing location, just to try to screw Zaxby's. Having a Cane's on both sides of Lee, each within a hundred yards or so of Zaxby's, could certainly make it difficult for Zaxby's to turn a profit there.

I thought Whataburger already announced they are not opening in that area?
