This is correct. If an employer suspects the person isn't who they say they are and they ask additional questions that they wouldn't ask Bubba from Houma, they could get a knock on the door from DOJ. I've seen it happen.

Employers need a foolproof tool to determine who is legal and who isn't.

Incorrect. Mismatches will get you a TNC (Tentative Nonconfirmation)

ICE recently hit up a commercial site that I'm involved with, but the guy had a warrant for something other than being here illegally. ICE apparently didn't really interact with any of the other workers there.

Not much. You have to be vetted to get on to a plant site, so they don't really work on our projects .
