My kids are 14 and 15 and know were the guns are. Over the years we have shot them and cleaned them and talked about how dangerous they can be if not respected. If they want to see them,I have told them to ask first, and to be honest, I shoot about 8 or 10 times a year with the kids. Its not more because sometimes they just aren't interested. Take the mystery out of it and they will be fine. Lots of talking before we ever get them out. Also shot a lot of BB & pellet guns when they were younger. We still plink in the yard with the pellet guns.

No young kids here, but friends and colleagues keep theres in either a safe or high on a mantle/shelf.

There's one in the cabinet in the living room underneath a bunch of wires. I know there's another one where I live but neither are mine.

2 good points I read: Keep the automatic handy without one chambered, and teach the kids early about respecting firearms.
