First of all, instead of eviction they should be facing charges for breaking and entering. In regards to the protests, so hard working people who have invested their money in this real estate should be forced to let squatters live there for free?

Two homeless mothers in Oakland, California who were occupying an vacant residence owned by a development company were evicted Tuesday morning, after hundreds in the community protested Monday to support their fight for affordable housing.
Dominique Walker and Sameerah Karim, members of the local activist collective Moms 4 Housing, were confronted by Alameda County Sheriff deputies early Tuesday, who forced open the door of the home they had been occupying since November.

You are a heartless bastard.
You have no idea how hard they worked to rescue an underutilized abode

Affordable housing does not equate to a person's right to essentially steal a home.

What if you were forced to let squatters live in your house? Would you call yourself heartless for fighting against it?

And if there is anywhere I could actually get behind a protest for affordable housing, it would be California.
But, squatters should not be the poster children of your fight.

Looks to like there’s enough of these “Moms 4 Housing” bitches there if they’d pool their money they could help get these women a place. Or I’m sure some of them have a spare room at their house.
Or are they more interested in being outraged in front of the media cameras than actually helping people?

They were squatting which is legal in certain circumstances. Im guessing if a property is condemned/abanfoned and taxes haven't been paid for like 7 years, this situation a REIT bought it a year ago so doesnt work.

Add to that the likely fact that the property owners probably have liability for anything that happens in the house. If one of the bums steps on a nail and gets the lock jaw, who do you think gets sued?

It is policies which give folks like this rights that make housing unaffordable.
The extra legal costs are at some point passed on to the eventual owner or renter.

Comment I saw online:
Unreal.
quote:
certain people don’t deserve housing and someone has a piece of paper saying that property is theirs, so that person with the paper is more entitled to said ownership of the property than the people *actually living on and using said property*
Unreal.

Owner should have released a German Shepard the first time he noticed the squatters

I’m thankful every day that I don’t work in a state where illegal squatters have more rights than the property owners.
In general, evictions are much better here too. Louisiana

and someone has a piece of paper saying that property is theirs, so that person with the paper is more entitled to said ownership of the property than the people *actually living on and using said property*
That sounds accurate to me.

I typically take the opposite stance of any organization that begins with "Mothers for" or "Mothers against" by default.

Because she is questioning why the person with the deed to the property should be more entitled tho it’s ownership thank someone squatting there.
