You really have to have the right mind set & personality to do it long term. After some consistent success, you just get in the grove and roll with the good days and don’t sweat the bad ones.

I did it for 30+ years. Managed to live a great lifestyle & put four through college. Could be a little tense as an off month end approached, but you have to have the confidence that it will fall in place. If the W-2 employee gig sounds so good to you, you are probably not in doing yourself any favors.

Self employment tax ? There are a number of ways to approach the tax issue. If the income is rising, look at the advantages of an S-Corp.

In hindsight, I never would have made it as an employee. I cherish the ability to write my own schedule. I could expound on the personal luxuries that the business offers, but that is another story :-)

This is my job right here.

Revenues in 2020- $7M. Profit on those revenues- $3M. Commissions on that profit- $1.8M.

Total sales in 2020- 2
