I responded directly to you saying the VA does no wrong
I didn't say that..I said they deal with things on a case by case basis...I also said they deal with mental issues poorly and that should be a bigger focus..

That must have come later in the thread because all I saw was:

Contrary to popular belief, and social media, the VA helps those with issues..
Which prompted my response.
Sounds like we're on the same page.

I understand the whole PTSD problem. It's real and affects thousands of my fellow vets. And I'll admit that sometimes loud noises, especially metallic clangs, startle me. But to go and put a sign in your front yard like that? That's a bit much IMO and does smack of someone looking for attention.

Good thing that guy doesn't live in my neighborhood. Every 4th and New Years Eve, it sounds like a war zone.

I was trying to imply that you were old.
And dude, that war lasted like 13 days. I know because that's my timeframe too.

They always did a Fourth of July show at the local high school that was very close. The dude just out ear buds in and went about his shift

With this guys line of thinking, you should have issues with riding in cars..hitting potholes, etc

I know. We sat in the dessert for what seemed like forever. The night the balloon went up and we crossed the berm I'll admit I was scared shitless. We were expecting the Iraqi's to hit us with all sorts of chemicals and the Republican Guard was supposed to be badass. I'll give them this much, they at least did try to put up a fight. But to be honest, most of the armored formations we engaged didn't even know we were there until they started brewing up one after another.

You were in a Cavalry unit?

If that were the case, considering the condition of Alabama roads, I'd be a shut-in.

Sure, loud explosions that catch me off guard will get me all amped up, but if you're expecting it and know it's just your neighbors kids lighting off fireworks, it really shouldn't be that big of a deal.
That's what I saw someone on reddit say about a similar picture. The problem was people shooting fireworks on the 3rd or the 5th when they weren't expecting it.

Saw this come across my Facebook feed from Jarred Taylor over at Article 15 Clothing. The post had to do with veterans taking pictures in front of their homes with the signs asking people not to set off fireworks near their homes. The irony in this is that these same guys are sporting a Spartan, or sheepdog, or whatever the alpha male / military themed flavor of the month shirt is trying to look as imposing as possible. If you are such a hardened warrior or are you someone suffering the traumas of war who cannot deal with fireworks? Stop the cry for attention and pick a side.

That was directed more toward the people disparaging those affected by PTSD.
But alas, you're a lot like my brother in law; veteran or not, marine or not, you're still a walking bag of pussy vinegar.

He probably makes fun of you for being so tough in Halo, but not joining the real Military..
