No, that's not normal. I've been married almost 20 years and my wife has never once asked about my ex-gfs nor wanted to hear me say one word about them.

I like hearing about exes. I’m not jealous or nuts about it. It’s a part of what shaped him into the man I love, like any other life experience. I think it’s weirder to have to pretend like the past didn’t exist before he met me.

Looks like she did him a favor... save him from marrying that thang.

I’d rather be dead than spend the rest of my life waking up next to that every morning.

Not true, but women CANNOT overlook the fact that you may have had a sexual interest in someone else. I've been married for nearly 20 years and the wife STILL asks about ex- girlfriends.

Estrogen is the devil.

My parents been married since 1973 and my mom still instantly dislikes anyone who happens to have the same name of my dads ex-gf.

You chose poorly then.

My husband and I met in our late 20s. It was assumed both of us had had previous relationships and sex with others in the past. So we never had a conversation about how many previous partners we both had. Only relationship I was curious about was his most recent one before me...why did it end? As for his previous sexual encounters...all I wanted to know is 1)did he have kids by one of these chicks and 2) had he recently been checked for STDs.

This is laughable.

And it sounds like you had better sleep with one eye open.

There weren't any "different levels" issues ala Chasing Amy or anything like that to discuss?

I mean, people have certain shite that makes them click...were you guys just basic "chore" sex people?

Edited for poor punctuation.

I was more interested to know why those relationships ended. If there was a pattern of him ending every one of them....that would have been something I needed to clue into.

One of his exes...still works with him. She started dating another coworker of theirs the same time me and my husband started dating. We all got along very well. Their break up was a mutual thing that had happened a couple years before we met (one of those..they are better off as friends things than being together). We aren't as close of friends to that couple anymore(just grew distant)...but there was a time we vacationed with them and had split season football tickets with them.

I haven't seen that movie in forever...please explain

My point in my post was to say that at 29...I didn't care how many women he had slept with before me. That was in his past before I knew him. As long as he was clean in regards to STDs...fine by me.

And if he wasn’t? Asking for a friend.

But seriously, you’ve got to be relatively along in the relationship to even get to that question. You obviously like him to have gotten this far. What if he humiliatingly reveals he’s got herpes, or hep C, or whatever other treatable, but non-curable virus is out there. What do you do?

Again...we were in our late 20s when we started dating...not kids fresh out of high school. Grown adults that have already lived on our own for years. And that had had other relationships (and sex) with others. Sex was discussed early on. Our relationship had a pretty fast start (we were saying I love you to one another within a month) and then settled into a more slower path (we didn’t get engaged until together almost 4 years, married at almost 5).

Obviously not how every relationship starts off...but hey 10 years later we are still together so it worked for us.
