My parents (mid 70s )are from the south, and my mom still talks about coke bottles with peanuts to this day. I have yet to try it.
But of course ive heard them talk about drawing an imaginary circle around a chicken and the chicken won't leave the circle. And then they would ring it's neck.

Growing up in Texas, I mostly heard of putting salted peanuts in Dr. Pepper. Never tried it though.

They way I understood it was these dumdums are putting peanuts into their coke cans/bottles and drinking it

Holy hell. Get a good cold coke, preferably in a bottle, drink a little out, and dump you some salted peanuts in it. Yes, there is a difference. Try it, and you’ll know.

Speaking of weird food/drink practices, I’ve been putting ketchup on my mac and cheese ever since I can remember... but I didn’t learn that it was “weird” until I moved away from home...
And I apologize for calling you or any who does the “coke/peanut thing” stupid... it was uncalled for and just as you articulated, you do you.

This was my Dad’s tradition whenever we went fishing. That first salty swig is amazing. God, I miss him.
