CNBC is regarded.

I can't think of a single bad metric where anyone's first thought is "Tennessee".

They should allow every state to exclude one city of their choosing to help their rankings, similar to increasing ethnic test scores or whatever. That will make it fair as they would think. The only prob is some states need to exclude 3 cities to help their rankings. Wonder if we removed New Orleans, Baton Ruuuudge, and Shreveport how we would poll?

You should look at NC.

Sorry. We're full too.

Try New Mexico or Arizona.

And Minnesota is fourth best. Where you can hear the Call to Prayer five times a day and bow down to your Somali overlords.

Progressive shithole extraordinaire...

Hard pass.

ETA - Tampon Tim as the Governor. Holy shite this dude is a clown.

Compiled by urban progressives.

Clueless as to live outside their ideological bubble.

A case can be made that this list is BS for apparent liberal bias of the publication, but plain and simple a ranking of states for "Quality of Life" where access to outdoor recreation is not even considered is an absolute heaping, steaming pile of BS! Apply that to both Tenn and Utah as well as New Jersey and those will be found in very different places in the ranking.

the justification to put Utah in the bottom ten is particularly hilarious and cites that families spend a lot on children care as a key factor. Ummm. Might that be because the average family size is materially higher than average due to the prevalence of LDS?

Utah should probably be #1. Nice people, a lot of money in Utah, low crime, and a varied beautiful landscape - the most varied in the country. Wonderful climate, too.

Worst:
9: Oklahoma (97 out of 265)

7: Alabama (92 out of 265)
6: Georgia (89 out of 265)
5: Louisiana (87 out of 265)
4: Utah (87 out of 265)
3: Indiana (73 out of 265)
2: Texas (72 out of 265)
1: Tennessee (61 out of 265)

Best:
8 (tie): Virginia (167 out of 265)
8 (tie): Nebraska (167 out of 265)
8 (tie): Massachusetts (167 out of 265)
7: North Dakota (171 out of 265)
6: Hawaii (173 out of 265)
5: Connecticut (179 out of 265)
4: Minnesota (189 out of 265)
3: New Jersey (201 out of 265)
2: Maine (207 out of 265)
1: Vermont (228 out of 265)

Quite possible, the dumbest fkn list I've ever seen in my life. I'd prolly choose 9 states from the top list before any of the 10 "best" on the bottom.

Recently spent a week in Chattanooga and It was pretty good for my quality of life. The outdoors activities in and within 50miles of there is amazing. Food was surprisingly great outside of the touristy places. Saw a few hobos, but nothing like the trashy, tent city nonsense of places like Austin and Los Angeles, so they most likely heavily enforce vagrancy laws. So, basically a city ripe for hive minded progressives to move to and “fix.”
