I lived in Dalhart for a bit.
Cool, how did you like it? Only been through Dalhart a couple times but it is pretty much the same size as Perryton.
For anyone wondering, the heater did go on. Thermostat dropped to 68 and I like it 71 year-round.

Sometimes this “climate change” idiots are worse than the actual climate change idiots.
First off if it were real and the ice caps melted quickly it would probably cause a mini ice age so…

Great people, but I couldn't get over the sense of isolation living in that part of the country. Dalhart was so small that we had to drive 40 miles to the next small town just to go to Walmart. And we had to drive 1.5 hours away to the next "big" city of Amarillo, which wasn't so great, either, for any kind of entertainment. There were very few people to share my hobbies and interests with. All of the bigger cities in the region, like Albuquerque, Santa Fe, etc were completely isolated themselves. I will say that Dalhart was a great jumping off point to explore that region of the country, and the scenery was different and beautiful.
And true to Tigerdroppings, there turned out to be a TD poster living nearby of all places.

Thanks for sharing. It's not easy living in the sticks. The closest Walmart to Perryton is two states away. Just a 45-mile trip to Liberal, KS.
I miss having a diverse selection of places to eat but I also enjoy living in a fairly crime free city.

It was overall a good experience for my family and me though.
And I'll always remember my foray into Liberal to eat at Applebee's and shop at Buckle. Never did get to visit the Wizard of Oz Museum though.

Well over 100 trips to Liberal and also no visits to Dorothy's House and the Land of Oz.

Yeah, initially when they were saying that the temperature might eventually rise 3, 4, or even 5 degrees, I was like, ok so instead of a high of 97 it will be 102, big deal.
I was just thinking about it in terms of my own comfort. After this has been a political issue now for the last 40 years or so I've gotten a little more information about it and learned that it is our delicate ecology and environment that we have to worry about. That is what is much more sensistive to temperature changes.

My weather app has been saying "cooling over the next several days" for a week now. It also said it was going to storm today and tomorrow.
So far....
Hot and mostly sunny

That is one of the drawbacks up there. Dumas had a decent Thai place we’d go to every couple weeks, same with the Italian place in Borger.
But it was nice to be able to leave your windows down and truck unlocked when you went to the store. Hell, I couldn’t find my shotgun one morning, I had forgot to take it out the boat. Haven’t been back in BR 3 weeks and already had ice chest stolen out the back of my truck.
