I don’t remember a Dan working there…if that is your real name. lol

I worked there from '93 to '97.

Yes, the camera was awesome for when couples where back there. One lady told her man to pick out a good one because he was going to have to do everything in that movie to her. They where in the "A" section. Good times.

You might have hired in right as I moved on. I'm sure we know the same people, though. I see one of their former employees every day and another one lives in my neighborhood. Small world.

We used to go to S&R by the original Winn Dixie. I grew up off Gurney.
Central is totally different than it was back then.

I remember S&R. My first job was at that old Winn Dixie in the early 90s.

It was very busy on weekends. Food was great! It was the era before buffets ruined Chinese food in br.

Were you part of the Video Co-op video store to beeper era business transition?

Just drove down that stretch from downtown to Central last week. I'm amazed how bad it is the entire way from Airline to Flannery.

How much did the opening of Central Thruway contribute to this?

The thruway just re-routed the Magnolia Bridge traffic. Baton Rouge is what killed that span of Greenwell Springs Road.

Right, so the thruway did not contribute anything to the demise of Greenwell Springs Road from Airline to Flannery

I have two older friends that moved out of that area in the late 80s and early 90s bc it was awful back then

Oddly enough, all of that area used to be nice to decent. Flannery, Monticello, N Sherwood, Monterrey etc. Really that whole stretch of Greenwell Springs until you got west of Lobdell. I don't ever remember that being good

Seemed like the abandonment of the TG&Y commercial site due to flooding damaged the commercial growth along that area. The Airline blight encroachment and the fall of Monticello sealed the deal. I agree, though. Life during the '80s and '90s in that area was pretty awesome.
