Sears was founded 132 years ago in Chicago.

The Six Corners store, which opened in 1938 in a $1 million building designed by Chicago architecture firm Nimmons, Carr & Wright, is one of the 529 Sears stores that were in operation nationwide as of May 5. Hoffman Estates-based parent company Sears Holdings Corp. still has one Kmart in Chicago and a handful of Sears stores in the suburbs.

Since May, Sears Holdings has announced plans to close 78 more stores after another quarter of losses and slowing sales. The company laid off 200 corporate employees last month, including 150 in Hoffman Estates, following a round of 220 job cuts earlier this year.

That ship just needs to roll over and sink already. Seeing craftsman at Lowe’s recently which I think was their last asset of any value. It’s the way of the world. My great grandkids will be saying the same thing about AMazon I’m sure.

They are moving more and more to an online sales model, recently announcing an agreement to sell their Kenmore line of appliances through Amazon.

I think all malls are going to have issues soon.

Sears is on their way out. JCPenny isn't far behind.

The mall model has become nothing more than urban ghettos.

Malls don’t have issues when they have actually nice stores in them. Mall of LA, Canal Place etc are both fine
