Part of me thinks what else was the kid supposed to do at the point when he stopped.
Regardless, this will be an interesting one to follow because that is as bad of a video as we have ever seen if you aren’t paying attention but I’m going to predict this goes nowhere because he’s not black.
If he was black they would claim this one as the worst of all because it’s a kid who put his hands up.

Have no clue how a reasonable person can expect an officer not to pull a trigger when a criminal turns and faces them with a gun in their hand at their side

In police training, what do you think they should teach to do when a criminal turns and faces them with a gun?

For those with short memories, this is what cops are potentially facing every time they go on shift.
I have no sympathy for anyone who fires a gun and then runs from the cops who respond.
Officer Jarrott played nice cop and now there are 4 kids without their father.

Do we know if the gun was tossed at the site where he was shot or did it happen earlier in the pursuit? You can’t tell for the video. Is it in the police report/is the report public?

The video from behind the fence is exculpatory for the cop. The kids has his back to the cop and is clearly digging a gun out of his pockets milliseconds before he turns around and faces the cop.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. A gun isn’t a magic laser that instantly neutralizes someone. People have been shot a half dozen times and still returned fire.
