This certainly looks bad but I’m not buying the special needs angle. They classify every kid that doesn’t turn in their homework on time as special needs for more funding

Look, it was a bad shoot. I think just about everyone can see and admit that.
But let's skip the whole part where we wax poetic about the kid not doing anything wrong whatsoever. Isn't it weird how every single officer involved shooting seems to begin with resisting arrest, fighting cops, or running from them?
Maybe don't do that and this shite really doesn't happen. That's not even REMOTELY saying this was a good shoot, just that the whole "he did nothing wrong and showed his hands like he was commanded!" narrative is bullshite. He ran from police and only surrendered when he was cornered.
So basically what you're saying is that the moment he took off, in your eyes it was ok for the cop to shoot him at any point?
I feel like most people, by the time they graduate college, have run from the cops at some point. That act does not by itself make it ok for cops to start shooting in each and every one of those situations.

I mean I hate to say it, but after watching this video I think the shooting was necessary. The cop seen the gun and shot within the exact second he was putting his hands up. Even looks like he shot while the hands were still not visible.
Most of the time I'm against cops shooting people in almost every situation but this one is VERY tough and it will be controversial.

Yup, West Lakeview, about a 15 minute walk to Wrigley. I honestly couldn't tell you what the local news has been saying because I avoid it...it just pisses me off. Usually, though, the murders from a weekend are just rolled up into a single stat ("4 killed, 12 shot this weekend"). Though in this case, because it was a cop, it's likely getting more airtime. Same for Beetlejuice's calls for calm.
