I think it was a mirror to TD that the admins used for development/beta testing…not sure about that though

I think that's what it IS. It was a fully functioning site.
Chicken trademarked the "x-droppings" stuff. Chicagodroppings, dawgdroppings, etc. came about.
What really blew up his empire was the SEC board, though.
