Channel Nine anchors standing and holding an iPad while delivering the news

TV people please tell me why an anchor stands and reads the teleprompter while holding an iPad that is never used. Has anyone seen any of these cats look at it or tap on it? Silly and awkward.

Their scripts are on the ipad in case the propmter goes out. Same thing as when they use paper scripts, this is just electronic.
