haha, i actually thought it was pretty cool.

i date a teacher, so i hear endless stories of burnt out, jaded, and shitty teachers. So to see them all involved in something like this that promotes the students working hard towards something is a nice change of pace. i'm sure the kids will love it.

do teachers start identifying mentally with the age group they teach? I'd expect this stupid shite from kids, not their teachers.

I think this could possibly be something. At one time teachers use to dress more professional so there was a clear separation between teacher & students. Now I don't know how much that plays into anything, but if teachers dress in the same fashion as the students do, there is already some type of connection established.

Then, during the school year, teachers are around students during the day, more than anyone else and the best way to get through to today's generation is to be more of an equal than an authority figure so I think all of that plays a factor in more teachers giving up the monkey to students.. Or we just hear about it more.

We did something similar last year. Our hall was the Village People and we did a lip sync to YMCA with some corny, test-related lyrics. To show how ridiculous I thought it was, I danced like an idiot throughout the performance. The kids loved it. How much did it affect their test scores? Zero.

Now I see why Central has so many days off so their teachers can film idiotic videos.
