I'm having a little trouble understanding how the Archdiocese is going to convince parishioners to personally cough up the extra money. Good luck.

Is there any biblical reasoning behind the church stating that they’d be asking for money to fund sexual abuse?

In some cases they will just take it from parishes who have built up reserves. In Holy Names case it may be four million of their reserve. But I wonder most how this affects future construction. They are requiring each parish to have its own bankruptcy. How does that affect the ability to borrow to build?

"Enough real estate": Not sure if still current but not that many years ago the Church was the largest property owner in the country. By far.
