Anybody have any idea how good or bad Catholic High's basketball and baseball camps for 5th grader and 3rd grader would be. I am not expecting too much believe me, have sent mine to St. Michael's in past, at least some good competition out there during the games portion.

Any experiences out there?

Never been, but in general high school coaches pay attention to the 7th and 8th graders.

Did both camps in 7th and 8th grade, about 15 years ago. Both camps had a lot of great competition at them and you could really gauge your talent level. I recommend them.

Is level of instruction important?
Or is it all about measuring up against the competition?

Most high school camps are a money grab. The coaches know that parents are willing to pay a premium just to get little Johnny in front of his future high school coach. If you're sending your kid just for fun, its cool. I wouldn't expect them to get a whole lot out of it. As a previous poster stated, they will identify who will be playing for them next year and work the most with those players.
