Apparently in Catalonia they have several traditions at Christmas that revolves around poop.

Instead of Santa Claus they have a log that poops out presents: Tio de Nadal

And in their nativity scenes they always have someone pooping: Caganer

That is incorrect. In the English language, somebody from Catalonia has always been Catalonian.

A Catalán is someone from Cataluña (Catalunya).

Furthermore, Catalán is the Catalonian language.

???

Edit: See here, it seems the two are interchangeable with Catalan being the preferred choice.

Wikipedia.

Also, Catalán is a Catalonian male, Catalana is a Catalonian female. Together, they are Catalanes or Cataláns, however.

ETA Catalonians, in English.

You guys.

I once spent 2 months in Barcelona. I always heard "Catalan", not "Catalonian". The latter could probably still be used though.

¡Visca Catalunya!

ETA: I didn't see anything about this at the time. I was there during the summer.
