That's high as hell then. I wouldn't go above $10 k even on top of the line equipment. I replaced a 5 ton unit in a condo building 3 years ago for $4500 and it was a coastal machine so built for salt air and more expensive. Now they did 35 units so we got a discount, but that discount was like $1000-1500 at the most.
It's all up to you, but A new HVAC unit install with minimum duct work has a huge profit margin built in. They adjust that profit depending on how much of a sucker you are and how much they need the work. Get 5 quotes from good companies. It will pay off, tell them you aren't paying more than $9000 for a good machine and if they can't be under that there's no need to schedule a quote.

Is my price a regional Houston thing? All of you are louisiana and Florida I guess with "Baldona"?
Anybody know a great houston area installer? We know this guy and trust his prior work?? Not enough to pay 5K more though.
