This is the exact reason I raised my deductible to 2k. Anything that, or less, I was always inclined to pay.

What does that have to do with a liability payment?

You neighbors' car will have an ordinary damage report and will devalue his vehicle.

It's been my experience that many body shops don't report to carfax especially if it's private pay.

Isn't parking on street illegal? If so, don't pay.

As it pertains to this scenario, it falls within the amount that I would pay to keep off of insurance.

Except there is no deductible to be incurred for liability coverage.

I know, I didn't say there was. I said, as it pertains to this scenario, "should I pay or file?" it would fall within the amount I would pay to keep, it off of my insurance.

incorrect. no qtr panel is considered a part of the frame on any vehicle.

support pillars between the doors, front end radiator supports, C pillars and actual frames are all considered frame damage.

You are completely wrong. Replacing a quarter panel constitutes frame damage.

Can't help you. I have USAA and don't even think about these scenarios. USAA is without a doubt the GOAT.

How well do you know this neighbor?

Definitely get another quote. He could know the guy at the body shop and they are writing the quote for $1800 but really it's only $1200 worth of damage and they are pocketing $600

This happens a lot

Asked him to get another quote , and sent the quote to a body guy I know .

After talking to a few body repair shop guys I know , and a insurance Rep that's a friend ... they said to just pay the $1800 and move on .

Filing a claim on my insurance will raise premium over five years as well as ding my CARFAX Even though there's no damage on my vehicle , will still show up as accident reported .
