Please don't become a manager if you don't want to be a manager. Working for those types isn't fun.

More money doesn’t always mean more happiness. Just because you’re going to make $15k more...you’re also going to gain $15k more headaches and stress too.

It can happen, but I left a company I'd worked at for 20 years and didn't realize how bad I had it there until I left.

Sadly I feel as if you are right.

Especially in corporate world.
It feels as if they never promote competent people from within as they don't need them in current role.

So, they promote an incompetent person who knows the right person or "checks the right box".

I see what you're all saying. In addition to all my professional friends everyone seems to agree.
